WEATHERFORD TECHNOLOGY HOLDINGS, LLC AND WEATHERFORD U.S., L.P. 2:17-cv-00456-JRG

The plaintiff Weatherford has initiated legal action in response to alleged infringement of United States Patent Number 7,249,637.

The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office issued the ‘637 patent, entitled “Method and Device to Clamp Control Lines to Tubulars,” on July 31, 2007.

Recent court documents state that Weatherford Technology Holdings, LLC owns the subject patent by assignment while Weatherford U.S., L.P. owns exclusive rights to said patent.

“The ’637 Patent generally covers methods and devices for positioning a control line to be clamped to a tubular string at the surface of a well,” they explain. “More specifically, the invention relates to methods and devices for facilitating the clamping of a control line or signal transmission line to a tubular string prior to lowering the string, clamp, and line into the well. The invention can be used during the formation or completion of a well.”

The ’637 Patent is reportedly also available over the Internet through various online resources such as Google Patents and the U.S. Patent Office Web site.

Weatherford seeks unspecified monetary damages and a jury trial.

Attorneys Leslie V. Payne and J. Boone Baxter of the law firm Heim, Payne & Chorush, LLP in Houston are representing the plaintiff.
