Customer blames grocery stores operator for injuries

Slip01

GALVESTON — A customer is suing the operator of a Texas City grocery store, alleging negligence led to the plaintiff suffering injuries.

Vivian Washington filed a complaint June 2 in Galveston County District Court against HEB Grocery Company LP, alleging failure to maintain the common area in a reasonably safe condition.

According to the complaint, on July 25, 2016, Washington was injured while shopping in an HEB store in Texas City when she slipped and fell and a brown substance on the floor.

Washington said she has sustained physical pain and suffering, mental anguish, loss of enjoyment of life and disfigurement. The plaintiff alleges HEB Grocery failed to place any warning devices to alert shoppers of the slippery substance on the floor.

Washington seeks trial by jury, all damages allowed by law, pre- and post-judgment interest, costs of court and all appropriate relief. She is represented by attorneys M. Paul Skrabanek and Michael E. Pierce of Pierce Skabanek PLLC in Houston.
