Slip01

BEAUMONT – A Jefferson County woman alleges that she was injured at a Beaumont movie theater because of flooring conditions.

Lena Harvey filed a complaint on June 5 in the Jefferson County District Court against Cinemark USA Inc. citing premises liability.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Jan. 26, 2016, she was at Cinemark movie theater attempting to go to the bathroom when she slipped on slick tile and landed on her elbow and back. The suit states the defendant had just shampooed the carpet in the area of the restroom and left some of the cleaning solution on the tile. The plaintiff alleges she sustained injuries resulting in pain and suffering, medical expenses, mental anguish and lost wages.

The plaintiff holds Cinemark USA Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to inspect the premises and eliminate the dangerous condition and/or to warn plaintiff of the existence of such conditions.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks monetary relief of more than $100,000 and such other general and special relief. She is represented by David Bernsen and Myles Lenz of The Bernsen Law Firm in Beaumont.
