HOUSTON – A Houston woman alleges she was terminated in retaliation for her complaints about not receiving overtime pay.
Alma Perez filed a complaint on June 21 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Healthcare Services Group Inc. alleging that the housekeeping service provider violated the Fair Labor Standards Act.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff was hired by the defendant as an account manager in 2013 and was classified as exempt from receiving overtime pay.
The plaintiff holds Healthcare Services Group Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to pay her at a rate of time-and-one-half of her regular wage rate for hours worked over 40 in a workweek and allegedly terminated her in retaliation for her complaints about not receiving overtime wages.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks all unpaid wages, liquidated and exemplary damages, costs, attorney's fees, post-judgment interest and such other relief she may be justly entitled. She is represented by Robert J. Filteau and John A. Sullivan III of The Law Offices of Filteau & Sullivan LTD LLP in Houston.
