BEAUMONT — A female worker is suing her former employer, alleging discrimination, intentional infliction of emotional distress and sexual harassment.
Daphne Zinel Saunders filed a complaint on June 28, in Beaumont Division of the Eastern District of Texas against Hotard Coaches Inc. alleging that the former employer violated Title VII of the Civil Rights Act.
According to the complaint, Saunders, who worked as a shift supervisor, was subjected to adverse employment actions and sexual harassment that resulted in lost pay, pension and benefits, severe stress, anxiety, mental anguish and emotional distress.
The plaintiff alleges Hotard Coaches failed to take appropriate remedial actions to prevent and cure Saunders' allegations of hostile work environment sexual harassment, and then retaliated against her for filing a complaint with the EEOC by not rehiring her for a project in Sulphur, Louisiana, leading to unemployment.
Saunders seeks trial by jury, compensatory and exemplary damages, attorney fees, court costs and all other relief the court deems appropriate. She is represented by attorney Julia C. Hatcher of Galveston.
