Former United-Sabine LTD employee alleges she was subjected to discrimination because of injury

BEAUMONT – A Port Arthur woman alleges she was discriminated against and terminated after she filed a workers' compensation claim.

Ursula Andres filed a complaint on June 21 in the Jefferson County District Court against United-Sabine LTD, also doing business as and Plantgistix-Sabine LLC alleging violation of the Civil Rights Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Equal Pay Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff was working in the warehouse of DuPont Refinery in September 2014 and was injured because of exposure to high temperature working conditions. She alleges she was diagnosed with a medical condition and filed a workers' compensation claim. The suit states she was terminated on Sept. 17, 2014. 

The plaintiff seeks damages in an amount within the jurisdictional limits of the court, exemplary damages, interest, costs of court and such other lawful and equitable relief. She is represented by Brandon P. Monk of The Monk Law Firm in Beaumont.
