Law money 10

HOUSTON – A bridal consultant alleges she was terminated in retaliation of her complaints regarding overtime pay.

Delecia Garvin filed a complaint on July 12 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against JJ Platinum Ventures Inc., Sharon Levy and Ronit Mele alleging that they violated the Fair Labor Standards Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff was employed as a bridal consultant for the defendants from November 2016 to March 2017. She alleges she worked in excess of 40 hours per week.

The plaintiff holds JJ Platinum Ventures Inc., Levy and Mele responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to pay the plaintiff at a rate of time-and-one-half for overtime work. She also alleges that she was terminated on March 10 after complaining of the pay practices on March 9.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks unpaid wages, liquidated damages, attorney’s fees, out-of-pocket expenses, costs of court and all further relief as the court deems just and equitable. She is represented by Charles L Scalise and Daniel B. Ross of Ross Law Group in Austin.
