GALVESTON — A Galveston County man is suing the owner of a Dickinson raceway, alleging negligence led to the plaintiff suffering injuries.

Jeffery Sallie filed a complaint July 17 in Galveston County District Court against Lee Jordan and Bay Area Raceway, alleging the property owner breached its duty to maintain the premises in a reasonably safe condition.

According to the complaint, on Aug. 22, 2015, Sallie was at Bay Area celebrating his nephew’s birthday with other family members. Sallie says he sustained serious injuries when he fell over exposed and unprotected electrical wires on the floor and was knocked unconscious. He says the defendant failed to call for medical attention or emergency personnel.

The suit says Sallie has sustained physical pain and suffering and mental anguish, disfigurement and medical expenses. The plaintiff alleges the defendants negligently created and maintained an unreasonably dangerous condition on the property and failed to warn Sallie of such conditions.

Sallie seeks trial by jury, monetary damages up to $100,000, actual damages, pre- and post-judgment interest, costs of court and all other general and special relief. He is represented by attorneys Sherry Scott Chandler and Lewis M. Chandler of The Chandler Law Firm LLP in Houston.
