Patient files suit against Eye Centers of Southeast Texas, others over alleged injuries from surgery

Medical malpractice 01

BEAUMONT – An Orange County woman alleges she has lost vision in one of her eyes because of the actions of a surgeon.

Sheila Klock filed a complaint on July 14 in the Jefferson County District Court against George R. Walters MD, Eye Centers of Southeast Texas LLP and Beaumont Surgical Affiliates LTD alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff underwent surgery in October 2015 to repair and torn and detached retina and another surgery in April 2016 to address cataracts forming in her left eye. The suit states Walters dropped two lenses and left lens fragments during the second surgery and the plaintiff has needed numerous other surgeries to correct the issue. She alleges she now has little to no vision in her left eye.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks monetary relief of more than $200,000 but not more than $1 million and any other lawful and equitable relief. She is represented by Craig Lewis and Aaron J. Arenas of The Lewis Law Firm in Houston.
