Jason's Deli customer alleges water on floor caused fall, injuries

Slip02

HOUSTON – A Houston woman alleges she was injured at a deli in the city because of a wet floor.

Rhonda Gandy filed a complaint on July 28 in the Harris County District Court against Deli Management Inc., doing business as Jason's Deli, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Oct. 30, 2015, she was dining at the defendant's Houston location and slipped in water that was on the floor when attempting to visit the restroom. She alleges she hit her left knee, leg and shoulder on the floor and her head struck the wall and was transported via ambulance to the emergency room at Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital.

The plaintiff holds Deli Management Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly negligently allowed the water leak to create a dangerous condition and failed to provide adequate warnings regarding the existence of such condition.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks monetary relief of more than $200,000 but not more than $1 million and such other lawful and equitable relief. She is represented by Bernard G. Johnson III and Steves Powers of Fisher Boyd Johnson & Huguenard LLP in Houston.
