HOUSTON – A Harris County woman alleges she was illegally terminated because of her pregnancy.
Olga Aguirre filed a complaint on Aug. 3 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Chemium International Corp. alleging that the trading company violated Title VII of the Civil Rights Act.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff was hired by the defendant in September 2015 as a scheduler. The suit states she informed her supervisor on Jan. 11, 2016, that she was pregnant and was terminated four days later.
The plaintiff holds Chemium International Corp. responsible because the defendant allegedly subjected her to gender and pregnancy discrimination.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensatory, punitive and pecuniary damages, plus interest, reinstatement, costs and expenses for this action, costs in seeking subsequent employment and any further relief to which she may be justly entitled. She is represented by David G. Langenfeld of Leichter Law Firm in Austin.
