South Shore Lakes Apartments tenant alleges landlord failed to correct mold issues

Contract 04

GALVESTON – A former tenant of a League City property alleges toxic mold caused health issues and forced him from the apartment.

Craig Sachs filed a complaint on Aug. 9 in the Galveston County District Court against South Shore Lakes Apartments, doing business as VR South Shore Holdings Limited Partnership, alleging breach of lease contract and other counts.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he rented an apartment from the defendants and that the defendants failed to repair water leaks and remediate dangerous toxic mold. He alleges that he sought medical treatment and needed the placement of a heart defibrillator as a result of prolonged exposure to the mold.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages of more than $200,000 and within the jurisdictional limits of the court. He is represented by Brit N. Mitchell of BritMitchell Law PLLC in Houston.
