HOUSTON – A game warden alleges he was retaliated against for filing a discrimination complaint.

John Rao filed a complaint on Aug. 14 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Texas Parks and Wildlife Department alleging that the state agency violated Title VII of the Civil Rights Act and the Texas Labor Code.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges he assisted an African-American co-worker with filing a charge with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. He alleges he was retaliated against because of this and filed a charge of discrimination himself with the EEOC.

The plaintiff holds Texas Parks and Wildlife Department responsible because the defendant allegedly retaliated against him by denying promotions.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks actual and compensatory damages, reinstatement or front pay, pre- and post-judgment interest, attorney's fees, costs and such other and further relief. He is represented by Nasim Ahmad of Ahmad & Capodice PLLC in The Woodlands.
