Man names Spinetech Neurosurgery, others in suit alleging he was injured because of surgery

Medical malpractice 02

BEAUMONT – A Harden County man alleges that he has suffered severe, permanent and disabling injuries as the result of a surgery.

Thomas H. Clegg, individually and as next friend and natural parent of minor Trevor H. Clegg, and Dana G. Arterberry filed a complaint on Aug. 9 in the Jefferson County District Court against Edwin Lo, M.D.; Spinetech Neurosurgery; Brain and Spine Center of Southeast Texas PLLC; et al. alleging negligence and other counts.

According to the complaint, Lo performed surgery on Thomas Clegg because of Clegg's complaints of neck pain. He alleges shortly after the surgery he started feeling a heaviness in his legs, and after three more surgeries, he still suffered from quadriparesis.

The plaintiffs hold Lo, Spinetech Neurosurgery, Brain and Spine Center of Southeast Texas PLLC, et al. responsible because the defendant Lo allegedly failed to adhere to the standard of care.

The plaintiffs seek monetary relief of more than $1 million and all other legal, general and special relief. They are represented by Mark W. Long of Law Office of Mark W. Long in New Braunfels, L. James Wood of James Wood Attorney at Law in Austin and Stephen P. Bres of Stephen P. Bres Attorney at Law in Austin.
