El Rancho Mexican Restaurant employees file suit over burn injuries suffered while working

Medical malpractice 07

HOUSTON – Two employees of a Houston restaurant allege that the business failed to maintain its equipment, causing injuries.

Reyna E. Orellana and Reina B. Ferman filed a complaint on Aug. 18 in the Harris County District Court against El Rancho Mexican Restaurant Inc. alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that in 2017, they were working at defendant's restaurant and were injured when an explosion occurred in the kitchen grill. The suit states Orellana sustained "catastrophic" injuries to numerous areas of her body while plaintiff Ferman sustained burns to her ear and right arm.

The plaintiffs hold El Rancho Mexican Restaurant Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to inspect the premises for dangerous conditions and failed to maintain the equipment in proper working conditions.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek damages in an amount within the jurisdictional limits of the court, plus interest, court costs and any further relief to which the court may determine equitable. They are represented by Ryan H. Zehl, Matt L. Martin and Kevin C. Haynes of Zehl & Associates PC in Houston.
