Property owner alleges Southeast Texas Engineering & Inspections breached contract

GALVESTON – A Galveston County property owner alleges a consultant hired for home improvement work failed to perform the necessary services he needed.

Kent Cox filed a complaint on Aug. 18 in the Galveston County District Court against Southeast Texas Engineering & Inspections LLC alleging breach of contract and negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff hired the defendant as an engineer/consultant for a roof replacement and installation of solar energy equipment on the roof of his Dickinson home. The defendant allegedly informed the plaintiff that it was able and qualified to do the work for the plaintiff to obtain a WPI-8 certificate.

The plaintiff holds Southeast Texas Engineering & Inspections LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to provide and perform the necessary inspections, consultation and engineering services required for the plaintiff to obtain the certificate.

The plaintiff seeks general damages of $26,308.20, special damages, pre- and post-judgment interest, attorney’s fees, costs of suit and such other and further relief. He is represented by Dennis J. Albright and Kathryn A. Lumpkin of Albright & Lumpkin PC in Houston.
