HOUSTON – A Brazoria County woman alleges she was injured at a Houston business while attending a birthday party because of a wet floor.

Karin Perez filed a complaint on Aug. 22 in the Harris County District Court against GT Katy Investments LP, doing business as Monkey Joe's, alleging negligent, careless and reckless disregard of duty.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Sept. 5, 2015, she was at defendant's premises to attend a birthday party when she slipped and fell on a wet floor. She alleges she sustained serious and permanent injuries resulting in medical care and expenses, pain and suffering, mental anguish and lost wages.

The plaintiff holds GT Katy Investments LP responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to maintain the floor in a safe condition and failed to warn its invitees of the condition of the floor.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks monetary relief of more than $100,000 but not more than $200,000, pre- and post-judgment interest, costs and such other and further relief. She is represented by John J. Kahn Jr. and Jennifer H. Kahn of The Kahn Law Firm PC in Pearland.
