HOUSTON – The parents of three individuals killed in a fire at Crosby Square Apartments are seeking more than $1 million in damages.

Kevin Arceneaux Sr., individually and on behalf of Kevin Arceneaux Jr.; Mark Broussard, individually and on behalf of Marquelle Broussard; and Cora Arceneaux, individually and on behalf of Shanna May; filed a complaint on Aug. 22 in the Harris County District Court against ASP Holdings LLC and Mill Creek Capital LLC alleging negligence and wrongful death.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that in July 8, Kevin Arceneaux Jr. was visiting his aunt May and cousin Marquelle Broussard at May's apartment at defendants' Crosby Square Apartments. The suit states a fire broke out in the apartment below May's, engulfed her unit and killed them.

The plaintiffs holds ASP Holdings LLC and Mill Creek Capital LLC responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to install fire protection systems and smoke detectors and failed to create safety policies and procedures that would have prevented the incident.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek monetary relief of more than $1 million and all other relief to which they are justly entitled. They are represented by M. Paul Skrabanek and Michael E. Pierce of Pierce Skrabanek PLLC in Houston.
