BROWNSVILLE – A Richmond consumer alleges a debt collector harassed her with phone calls.
Linda Silva filed a complaint on Aug. 25 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas against Ad Astra Recovery Services Inc. alleging that the debt collection company violated the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff received repeated collection calls from the defendant beginning in August or September 2016. She alleges she told the defendant to stop calling her cellphone in February to no avail and that the defendant began calling family members to locate her.
The plaintiff holds Ad Astra Recovery Services Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly placed repeated, harassing calls to the plaintiff knowing that the calls were unwanted.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks actual damages suffered by plaintiff, statutory damages of $1,000, attorney's fees, costs and expenses and any further appropriate relief. She is represented by Amy L. Bennecoff Ginsburg of Kimmel & Silverman PC in Ambler, Pennsylvania.
