HOUSTON – A Harris County woman alleges a Houston company has failed to initiate arbitration in a discrimination case.

Ruby L. Bates filed a complaint on Sept. 7 in the Harris County District Court against GE Oil & Gas LLC alleging breach of contract.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff filed a charge of discrimination with the Texas Workforce Commission in August 2016 and was issued a right-to-sue letter in February. The plaintiff alleges that on June 2, she completed and submitted the forms for her demand for arbitration to defendant but it has failed to initiate the process.

The plaintiff holds GE Oil & Gas LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly violated the rules of its arbitration program.

The plaintiff seeks an order compelling arbitration or declaration GE has waived arbitration, monetary relief of more than $100,000 or less and all other relief to which she is entitled to receive. She is represented by David C. Holmes of Law Offices of David C. Holmes in Houston.
