HOUSTON – A man alleges WestRock Texas LP's failure to maintain a safe work environment caused acid burns to his body.

Houston Reed filed a complaint on Sept. 19 in the Harris County District Court against WestRock Texas LP, et al. alleging negligence and premises liability.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in May 2017, he was injured while working for Team Industrial Services at the defendant's Everdale facility when a gauge assembly on an acid process line ruptured. He alleges he experienced severe burns and exposure injuries to his face, eyes, arms, hands, torso and legs.

The plaintiff holds WestRock Texas LP, et al. responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to provide a safe place to work and failed to ensure that their equipment were properly maintained and serviced.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensatory, actual and consequential damages with interest, costs and such other just and proper relief. He is represented by Nicholas A. Morrow and John D. Sheppard of Morrow & Sheppard LLP in Houston.
