Cyclist alleges speed bump in Cypress parking lot caused injuries

HOUSTON – A Harris County cyclist alleges he was injured while riding on a Cypress property because it was not illuminated with adequate lighting.

Peter Gosselink filed a complaint on Sept. 20 in the Harris County District Court against Coles Crossing LP, doing business as Broadstone at Coles Crossing, and Rait Residential, care of Rait Financial Trust alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Nov. 25, 2015, he was severely injured when the bicycle he was riding struck a speed bump on defendants' property. He alleges he suffered medical expenses, reduction of earnings, mental anguish pain and suffering. 

The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to maintain the property in a safe manner.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks monetary relief of more than $200,000 but not more than $1 million and such other and further relief. He is represented by Loren G. Klitsas and Jared W. Capps of Klitsas & Vercher PC in Houston.
