Seaman alleges Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Co. failed to pay maintenance and cure after injury

HOUSTON – A Starr County resident alleges he was injured while working on a vessel.

Noe Flores filed a complaint on Sept. 25 in the Harris County District Court against Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Co. LLC alleging willful and wanton misconduct in failing to provide maintenance and cure.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on July 20, he sustained severe bodily injuries while in the service of defendant's vessel when he fell while walking down a set of stairs. A month later, the suit states that he was terminated from his employment.

The plaintiff holds Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Co. LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly refused to investigate and acknowledge that he was injured while working and failed to pay and/or delayed in paying maintenance and cure benefits.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages of more than $1 million, plus interest, costs of court and all further relief to which he is entitled to receive. He is represented by Anthony G. Buzbee and Christopher J. Leavitt of The Buzbee Law Firm in Houston.
