Houston man alleges false information on FC Background report cost him job

HOUSTON – A Houston individual alleges he lost employment opportunities because of inaccurate information provided on a consumer report.

Isaac Jones filed a complaint on Sept. 29 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against FC Background LLC alleging that the consumer reporting agency violated the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff applied for employment with Parks Coffee in October 2016 and authorized it to obtain a consumer report for employment purposes. The suit states the defendant sold the report to Parks Coffee, and the plaintiff alleges that this report inaccurately listed that the plaintiff has a felony criminal conviction. The plaintiff alleges he was denied employment because of this inaccurate criminal information.

The plaintiff holds FC Background LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to maintain strict procedures to ensure that its consumer reports are complete, accurate and up to date and wrongfully portrayed him as a convicted felon.

The plaintiff seeks statutory, actual and punitive damages, attorneys’ fees, costs of litigation, as well as all other relief as permitted by law. He is represented by Micah S. Adkins of The Adkins Law Firm PC in Birmingham, Alabama.
