Health care firm short-changed employees, lawsuit alleges

Law money 03

MARSHALL — Several employees are suing Concord Healthcare Group LLC, which does business as Gardendale Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, alleging they were not properly compensated for work performed.

Deanna Coffman, Gloria Blanton, Stephanie Munsinger, Brendolyn Castleberry, Peggy Warren and Brandy Edwards filed a complaint on Oct. 3 in the Marshall Division of the Eastern District of Texas against the defendants, alleging that they violated the Fair Labor Standards Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege they worked through their lunch hour (off the clock) and overtime hours without receiving sufficient compensation. The plaintiffs hold Concord Healthcare Group responsible because the defendants allegedly intentionally failed to pay for all hours that they had worked.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek unpaid wages, liquidated damages, costs of court, attorney fees and other just relief. They are represented by Bob Whitehurst of Whitehurst Law Firm in Tyler.
