GALVESTON – A Jefferson County woman alleges she was injured when she slipped on a liquid believed to be water at a health care facility.
Brenda Jackson filed a complaint on Oct. 5 in the Galveston County District Court against University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston and UTMB Healthcare Systems Inc. alleging negligence.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Oct. 8, 2015, she was injured when she slipped and fell on a liquid while walking from the prep room to the colonoscopy procedure area at the defendants' facility. She alleges she suffered medical expenses, mental anguish, disfigurement and loss of earning capacity.
The plaintiff holds University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston and UTMB Healthcare Systems Inc. responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to warn plaintiff of the existence of such condition.
The plaintiff seeks monetary relief of more than $200,000 but not more than $1 million, interest and costs of suit. She is represented by David B. Joeckel Jr. and Jonathan J. “Jack” Walters of The Joeckel Law Office in Fort Worth.
