HOUSTON – An African-American woman alleges that an IT staffing and counseling firm intentionally discriminated against her because of her pregnancy.

Sharde N. Lewis filed a complaint on Oct. 6 in the Harris County District Court against Precision Task Group Inc. alleging discrimination based on pregnancy and race and retaliation.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff was employed by the defendant in the accounting department from December 2014 to October 2016. She alleges that after she informed the defendant of her pregnancy in 2015, her job duties "changed significantly" and she took on more roles in the company. She alleges when she informed the defendant of her maternity leave date, her job became more difficult.

The plaintiff holds Precision Task Group Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly subjected her to intense discrimination because of her gender/pregnancy and race and retaliated against her for opposing discrimination.

The plaintiff seeks monetary relief of more than $1 million and such other lawful and equitable relief. She is represented by Mike Johanson and Brandon J. Barnes of Johanson & Fairless LLP in Sugar Land.
