HOUSTON – A Louisiana seaman is seeking more than $1 million from his Kingwood employer over allegations he was caused injuries by the actions of his supervisor.

Joshua Chelette filed a complaint on Oct. 6 in the Harris County District Court against Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Co. LLC alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on June 5, he received serious and debilitating injuries while in the course and scope with his employment with defendant working onboard its Booster No. 2 (Jessie). He alleges he sustained injuries when his supervisor "shoved him out of the control room," which caused him to fall and injure his left knee, the suit states.

The plaintiff holds Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Co. LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to properly screen, hire, train and supervise its employees and crews.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks monetary relief of more than $1 million and such other and further relief to which he may show himself justly entitled. He is represented by Ryan H. Zehl and Matt L. Martin of Zehl & Associates PC in Houston.
