Man seeks $1 million in damages from Nueces Power Equipment over foot injury

BEAUMONT – A Jefferson County man alleges he was injured by the negligence of an employee of a Corpus Christi company.

Clifton Veal filed a complaint on Oct. 4 in the Jefferson County District Court against Nueces Farm Center Inc., doing business as Nueces Power Equipment, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on July 20, he was seriously injured when a trailer owned by defendant was lowered onto his right foot while he was unloading a piece of equipment at the Valero Port Arthur Refinery. The suit states the truck and trailer were operated by an employee of the defendant at the time.

The plaintiff holds Nueces Farm Center Inc. responsible because the defendant's employee allegedly failed to maintain proper lookout, failed to use ordinary care under the circumstances and failed to sound warning that the trailer was about to be lowered.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks monetary relief of more than $1 million and any further relief that the court may deem lawful and equitable. He is represented by Ryan H. Zehl and Matt L. Martin of Zehl & Associates PC in Houston.
