GALVESTON – A Galveston County couple alleges they made a payment to a Galveston man to construct a home but no work was done.
Charles Manis and Angelita Manis filed a complaint on Oct. 24, in the Galveston County District Court against James Casey alleging breach of contract and other counts.
According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that on Aug. 2, defendant verbally agreed to construct their home on their lot in the Indian Beach subdivision on West Galveston Island. The plaintiffs state they sent a cashier’s check for $5,000 as the initial payment to Casey.
The plaintiffs hold Casey responsible because the defendant allegedly failed and refused to perform any work on their property.
The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek monetary relief aggregating $100,000 or less, excluding costs, prejudgment interest and attorney’s fees and such other relief to which they may show themselves to be justly entitled. They are represented by Cris A. Rasco of Rasco Law Firm in Texas City.
