Homeowner seeks more than $1 million from Before Listing over door injury

HOUSTON – A Harris County woman is seeking more than $1 million after a door in her home struck her while her home was being renovated.

Mary Juarez filed a complaint on Oct. 27 in the Harris County District Court against Before Listing Inc. and Eze John alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on March 25, the defendants were renovating her home and a door was modified. She alleges an employee of the defendants was showing her how to operate the door when it came unhinged and struck her.

The plaintiff holds Before Listing Inc. and John responsible because the defendants allegedly negligently created a dangerous condition, failed to warn her of such condition and failed to make the same reasonably safe.

The plaintiff seeks monetary relief of more than $1 million and such other and further relief. She is represented by Brian E. White and Nataliya K. Tipton of Attorney Brian White & Associates PC in Houston.
