HOUSTON – A seaman and employee of three Houston companies alleges he was injured while working because of an unsafe work environment.

Shane C. Lowden filed a complaint on Oct. 30 in the Harris County District Court against Higman Marine Services Inc., Higman Barge Lines Inc. and Higman Service Corp. alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in July 2017, he was in the course and scope of his employment with defendants when he sustained serious injuries to his neck, back and upper body while moving and pulling hoses. He alleges he has suffered pain and suffering, medical expenses, lost earnings and mental anguish.

The plaintiff holds Higman Marine Services Inc., Higman Barge Lines Inc. and Higman Service Corp. responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to provide a safe place to work and failed to provide adequate maintenance and cure.

The plaintiff seeks actual and exemplary damages, pre- and post-judgment interest, costs of court and such other legal and equitable relief. He is represented by Adam Q. Voyles and McKenna Harper of Lubel Voyles LLP in Houston and by Marks Balette Giessel & Young PLLC in Houston.
