Montgomery Co. man claims he was assaulted during soccer tournament

HOUSTON – Montgomery County resident Samuel Patrick Brennan has filed a lawsuit after he was allegedly assaulted during a soccer match last year, according to recent Harris County District Court records.

Brennan’s suit, submitted on Oct. 31, accuses Houston resident Matthew Kaufman of attacking the plaintiff at a co-ed soccer tournament hosted by the Houston Sport and Social Club on Sept. 7, 2016.

“During the event, the defendant approached the plaintiff for no apparent reason other than anger and/or frustration and struck the plaintiff on the left side of his face, using the crown of his hand,” the original petition says.

Brennan recalls being left unconscious and later waking up in the hospital where he was treated for multiple serious facial injuries. He is still experiencing swelling of his face and nerve damage, the suit states.

Consequently, the plaintiff seeks unspecified monetary damages.

He is represented by attorney Kevin A. Forsberg of The Forsberg Law Firm, P.C. in Montgomery.
