HOUSTON – A Winnie individual formerly employed by a Baytown warehouse alleges she was subjected to discrimination because she is older than 40.

Shirley Stanley filed a complaint on Nov. 8 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Home Depot USA Inc. alleging that the home improvement company violated Chapter 21 of the Texas Labor Code.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff began her employment with the defendant in 1997 and was transferred and promoted as maintenance supervisor at its Baytown Distribution Center in 2002. At the time of her termination in 2017, she was operations supervisor, the suit states.

The plaintiff holds Home Depot USA Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly discriminated and retaliated against her based on her age and terminated her employment for complaints of discrimination.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks all damages, expert witness fees, court costs, attorney’s fees, pre- and post-judgment interest and all other relief as permitted by law. She is represented by Todd Slobin and Dorian Vandenberg-Rodes of Shellist Lazarz Slobin LLP in Houston.
