GALVESTON – A Galveston County woman alleges she was injured at her apartment's parking lot because of inadequate lighting.

Priscilla J. Calhoun filed a complaint on Dec. 4, 2017, in the Galveston County District Court against Hawthorne-Midway Palms LLC and Thomas and Howard Palms LLC alleging negligence

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Dec. 18, 2015, she was leaving her apartment at defendants' Hawthorne Apartments when she tripped over a cement parking block in the parking lot. She alleges sustained injuries that caused her to suffer pain, mental anguish, medical expenses, lost earnings and physical impairment.

The plaintiff holds Hawthorne-Midway Palms LLC and Thomas and Howard Palms LLC responsible because the defendants allegedly negligently created a hazardous condition by incorrectly placing parking blocks in between the cars instead of in front of the cars and failed to provide adequate lighting in the parking lot.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendants in an amount over the minimum jurisdictional limits of the court, pre- and post-judgment interest and such other just and proper relief. She is represented by Matthew R. Willis of Brent Coon & Associates in Houston.
