HOUSTON – A Sugar Land resident alleges that she was terminated from her job at Verizon because of her age and Caucasian race.

Deanne R. Bodine filed a complaint on Nov. 27, 2017, in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Verizon Wireless Personal Communications LP alleging violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act and the Age Discrimination in Employment Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff began her employment with the defendant as a retail sales representative in Houston in 2010 and was later transferred to a Pearland location. She alleges she was the only white female working at the Pearland location and the only white woman older than 40 working in her position in the district. She alleges she was discharged without incident or notice on Nov. 21, 2016.

The plaintiff holds Verizon Wireless Personal Communications LP responsible because the defendant allegedly discriminated and retaliated against her because of her race, age and sex and terminated her employment with no valid reason and without severance packages.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensatory and punitive damages, attorneys’ fees, costs, pre- and post-judgment interest, and such other and further relief. She is represented by Alfonso Kennard Jr. of Kennard Richard PC in Houston.
