Woman injured in crash alleges Vision Industrial Services LLC driver drove while distracted

BEAUMONT – A woman is seeking more than $1 million over alleged damages sustained in a head-on collision in Jefferson County.

Shari Villeda and Marcos Zamudio filed a complaint on Dec. 15, 2017, in the Jefferson County District Court against Vision Industrial Services LLC, Delbert Dean Smith Jr. and DW Vehicle Leasing alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that on Dec. 9, 2017, Shari Villeda was traveling in a motor vehicle on Highway 1406 in Jefferson County when defendant Smith, who was driving a vehicle while in the course and scope of his employment with defendant Vision, carelessly traveled at an unsafe speed and collided with plaintiff's vehicle head-on. 

She alleges she sustained severe and permanent injuries and had to be cut out of her vehicle to be taken by life flight to a hospital at the accident scene. 

The plaintiffs holds Vision Industrial Services LLC, Smith Jr. and DW Vehicle Leasing responsible because defendant Smith allegedly negligently drove the vehicle while distracted, failed to maintain in a single lane of traffic and failed to keep proper lookout.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek monetary relief of more than $1 million and such other lawful and equitable relief. They are represented by Clay Dugas and Jason A. Powers of Clay Dugas & Associates PC in Beaumont.
