HOUSTON – A Shoreacres man alleges he suffered a head injury while entering the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston for a car show last November, according to recent Harris County District Court records.

Bradley Stewart filed a lawsuit against Houston First Corp.; Andy Frain Services, Inc.; and Convention and Cultural Services, Inc. on Jan. 3 in the Harris County 270th District Court in response to the incident which occurred on Nov. 25, 2017.

Stewart says that he and a friend were walking from the parking lot to the convention center through what they thought was a large pedestrian entrance into the building.

“While walking through the opening, suddenly a large metal door dropped from the ceiling, striking the plaintiff in the head,” court papers explain. “As a result of the strike by the door, the plaintiff was injured and rendered unconscious.”

The complaint adds Stewart eventually learned that the opening was a large elevator that had the doors opened on both sides. He faults the defendants for not posting warning signs in the vicinity of the opening.

Consequently, the plaintiff seeks unspecified monetary damages and a jury trial.

He is represented by attorney Jeremy T. Roebuck of the law firm Roebuck & Adams in Beaumont.
