HOUSTON – A Harris County man alleges assets from a company he formerly equally owned were transferred without his knowledge.

Lance Gilliam filed a complaint on Jan. 2 in the Harris County District Court against JP Retail Advisors LLC, V. Edward James and Edward F. Page alleging breach of contract.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff and James were business partners and equal owners of UCR Houston Retail LLC, which Page later joined. The plaintiff alleges he resigned in 2013 but unbeknownst to him, James and Page formed JP Retail Advisors and transferred certain UCR Houston controlled assets to JP Retail. The plaintiff alleges his 20 percent interest was transferred to JP Retail and as a result, he did not receive financial compensation.

The plaintiff holds JP Retail Advisors LLC, James and Page responsible because the defendants allegedly transferred plaintiff's interest without his knowledge or consent, causing him financial injury.

The plaintiff seeks monetary relief of more than $200,000 but not more than $1 million and such other lawful and equitable relief. He is represented by Jim M. Perdue Jr. and Adam J. Blake of Perdue & Kidd in Houston.
