Law money 02

HOUSTON – Two Houston employers are alleged to have terminated a Harris County woman after she complained about not receiving overtime pay.

Tiffany Taylor filed a complaint on Jan. 3 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Memorial Hermann Health System, doing business as Physicians at Sugar Creek, and Memorial Hermann Medical Group alleging violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff worked for the defendants as a residency coordinator from March to November 2017. She alleges that she regularly worked in excess of 40 hours per workweek without receiving proper overtime compensation.

The plaintiff holds Memorial Hermann Health System and Memorial Hermann Medical Group responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to pay overtime hours worked in excess of 40 hours per week at a rate of one-and-one-half times her regular rate of pay and retaliated against her and terminated her employment in response to her complaints about not receiving overtime payment.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks award for damages, attorney’s fees, costs, pre- and post-judgment interest and such other just and proper relief. She is represented by David G. Langenfeld of Leichter Law Firm in Austin.
