HOUSTON – Dick’s Sporting Goods is implicated in a shopper’s personal injury lawsuit.

Harris County resident Kyle Stephens filed the suit against the Coraopolis, Penn.-based retailer in the Harris County on Nov. 20, 2017. Houston federal court received the case on Jan. 5.

Stephens claims he and a young female relative were at the defendant’s store in Friendswood on Nov. 23, 2016, when an improperly secured weight bar hit the unidentified child in the head and back.

Dick’s is accused of failing to prevent the subject incident from occurring.

Consequently, Stephens seeks unspecified monetary damages and a jury trial.

He and the girl are represented by attorney Eric D. Nielsen of The Nielsen Law Firm, P.C. in Houston.
