Former employee files discrimination complaint against Winterhaven Healthcare Residence Operator

HOUSTON – A Harris County man alleges he was terminated from his job as a floor technician because of his opposition to discriminatory practices.

Turner Jones filed a complaint on Jan. 5 in the Harris County District Court against Winterhaven Healthcare Residence Operator LLC alleging that the former employer violated the Texas Commission on Human Rights Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he was passed over for a promotion that was given to less-qualified female. He alleges he complained that he was being discriminated against because of his race and gender, was subjected to retaliation and then terminated because of his complaints.

The plaintiff holds Winterhaven Healthcare Residence Operator LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly retaliated against him for opposing a discriminatory practice.

The plaintiff seeks monetary relief of more than $200,000 but not more than $1 million and such other general and special relief. He is represented by Craig R. Keener of Craig R. Keener PC in Houston.
