Daybreak Community Services Inc. employee alleges open can cut hand

Medical malpractice 04

HOUSTON – A Harris County woman alleges she was injured while working in a commercial kitchen because of a can.

Rashidat Shonubi filed a complaint on Jan. 8 in the Harris County District Court against Daybreak Community Services Inc. alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff was employed by the defendant as a residential support staff. She alleges that on July 8, 2017, she was injured when working in a kitchen at a Houston residence when the top of the can she was attempting to open flipped upward and cut her hand.

The plaintiff holds Daybreak Community Services Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to provide a functioning can opener appropriate for commercial use, failed to maintain a safe work environment and failed to provide necessary assistance to her.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks monetary relief of no less than $1 million and such other and further relief to which she is entitled. She is represented by Scott P. Armstrong and Joshua D. Lee of Armstrong Lee Savage LLP in Houston.
