RiverWalk Condos guest alleges Comcast cables caused wheelchair to flip

Wheelchair 04

HOUSTON – A New Mexico woman alleges she was injured at a Houston apartment complex when her wheelchair caught on cables and flipped.

Melanie Nelson filed a complaint on Jan. 9 in the Harris County District Court against Riverwalk Council of Co-Owners Inc., JDH Association Management Co., Comcast Cable Connect Your Home Inc. and Comcast Communications Management LLC alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, on June 9, 2016, she was visiting RiverWalk Condos in Houston and was injured when her wheelchair snagged on an electrical cable installed by Comcast, which caused it to flip backward.

She sustained serious personal injuries that resulted in pain and suffering, medical expenses, mental anguish and reduction in earnings.

The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to warn her of the hazardous condition, failed to remove it and failed to inspect the area.

The plaintiff seeks monetary relief of more than $200,000 but not more than $1 million and such other just and proper relief. She is represented by Leigh S. Montgomery of Husain Law + Associates PC in Houston.
