HOUSTON – A Spring woman alleges she was terminated in retaliation from her position at a hospital.
Kimberly Willis filed a complaint on Jan. 11 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital alleging violation of the Family and Medical Leave Act.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff was employed by the defendant in emergency room registration. On Nov. 29, 2017, the suit states she left work because of a severe headache and that a staff member in human resources gave her FMLA forms as a precaution. She alleges she was terminated the same day via phone call.
The plaintiff holds Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital responsible because the defendant allegedly retaliated against her by terminating her employment for engaging in a protected activity.
The plaintiff seeks actual, compensatory and punitive damages, pre- and post-judgment interest, costs and attorney’s fees and such other relief that is proper and just. She is represented by Ellen Sprovach of Rosenberg Sprovach in Houston.
