HOUSTON – An African-American man is seeking reinstatement to his position at a Houston manufacturing facility after he was allegedly terminated in retaliation for filing a discrimination complaint.

McArthur Readoux II filed a complaint on Jan. 12 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Chung's Products LP, doing business as Chung's Gourmet Foods, and Wayne Butler citing the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff began working with the defendants in November 2015 and was a plant manager. He alleges he reported to Butler, who verbally and physically assaulted him several times. He alleges he reported Butler's conduct and alleges after he filed a charge of discrimination, he was discharged in retaliation.

The plaintiff holds Chung's Products LP and Butler responsible because Chung's allegedly failed to ensure employees were properly trained, failed to ensure a safe environment and created an opportunity for Butler to assault plaintiff.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensation in an amount sufficient to make him whole for all damages he suffered, with interest, reinstatement, attorneys' fees and cost and all other relief to which he is entitled. He is represented by LaShawn A. Williams of Baldwin & Williams PLLC in Houston.
