HOUSTON – A Missouri City woman alleges she injured her knee and back in a tripping incident at a Houston business.

Yvonne Hawkins filed a complaint on Jan. 12 in the Harris County District Court against Floor & Decor alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Jan. 23, 2016, she was a customer at Floor & Decor and she tripped on a piece of steel that was sticking up out of the floor. She alleges she injured her knee and back because of the incident.

As a result, she suffered injuries that resulted in pain and suffering, medical expenses and physical impairment.

The plaintiff holds Floor & Decor responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to warn her of the unsafe condition and failed to maintain its floor in a reasonable safe condition.

The plaintiff seeks monetary relief of more than $100,000 but less than $200,000 and such other and further relief to which she may be entitled. She is represented by Byron W. Boenig of The Boenig Law Firm in Houston.
