HOUSTON – The recent closing of a school uniform business has resulted in a federal lawsuit.

Recent court documents filed by attorney Alfonso Kennard, Jr. on Jan. 12 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas asserts that Parker School Uniforms, LLC violated the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act when it folded earlier this month without providing any advanced notice to its employees.

“The defendant ordered and carried out a mass layoff within the meaning of the WARN Act,” the suit says.

Parker operated 36 stores in nine states, including Texas.

The complaint demands the defendant award back pay and benefits.

A jury trial is requested.
