Wrongful term 03

HOUSTON – A Harris County woman alleges that she was discriminated and retaliated against by her former employer because of injuries she sustained in an auto accident.

Anissa Callaway filed a complaint on Jan. 22 in the Harris County District Court against Susser Holdings Corp. and Sunoco LP citing 42 U.S.C. § 1981.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff was assigned to work for the defendants by a temporary employment agency and was offered a full-time position in March 2015 as a human resources recruiter. The suit states in August 2015, she was involved in an auto accident that was not her fault on the way to a recruiting event. She was terminated on Jan. 22, 2016, the suit states.

The plaintiff holds Susser Holdings Corp. and Sunoco LP responsible because the defendants allegedly discriminated against her because she is black and retaliated against her and terminated her employment for engaging in protected activity.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensatory and punitive damages of more than $1 million and such other just and proper relief. She is represented by Victoria Plante-Northington of Plante Law Firm PC in Houston.
