Owners of Napoleon Square Apartments named in wrongful death suit over shooting

HOUSTON – A mother has filed a wrongful death suit against the owners of a Houston apartment complex after her teenage son was shot and killed in the parking lot.

Mirna Cruz, individually and as next friend of T.C., a deceased minor filed a complaint on Jan. 22 in the Galveston County District Court against Auspicious Venture Napoleon Square LLC, Richfield Investment Corp., et al. alleging wrongful death and negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff and her minor children, including T.C., were residents at Napoleon Square Apartments. The suit states on Dec. 12, 2017, T.C. left the apartment to purchase a soft drink and was fatally shot in the parking lot at the premises. The suit states T.C. was 14.

The plaintiff holds Auspicious Venture Napoleon Square LLC, Richfield Investment Corp., et al. responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to provide reasonable and adequate security, failed to institute effective safety policies and failed to employ competent personnel.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks actual and exemplary damages, all costs incurred for this action, pre- and post-judgment interest, and such other relief to which she is entitled. She is represented by J. Moises Cedillos of Cedillos Law Firm PLLC in Houston.
